Ingredients

1 package (19-1/2 ounces) hot Italian turkey sausage links, casings removed1 pound extra-lean ground turkey1 medium green pepper, chopped1 small onion, chopped4 garlic cloves, minced2 cans (8 ounces each) no-salt-added tomato sauce2 tablespoons no-salt-added tomato paste1 tablespoon chili powder2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes1 teaspoon dried oregano8 whole wheat hamburger buns, split3/4 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Preparation

In a Dutch oven, cook the sausage, turkey, pepper and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

Spoon 3/4 cup turkey mixture onto each bun; sprinkle with cheeses.
