Ingredients

1 large loaf French of Italian bread

8 tbsp. unsalted butter

2 large garlic cloves

2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley

1 tbsp. finely snipped fresh chives

1 tsp. minced fresh thyme or oregano leaves (no stems) or a mixture of both

1/2 tsp. kosher salt

1/4 tsp. Freshly ground pepper

Preparation

Step 1Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut the bread crosswise into 1-inch-thick slices but do not cut all the way through the bottom of the loaf. Place lengthwise on a sheet of foil long enough to fold over in the center.Step 2In a small bowl, combine the butter, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper and mix well. Spread about 1 teaspoon of the mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Seal the foil around the bread and bake on the center oven rack until the butter melts and the loaf is hot, about 10 minutes.Nutritional information is based on one serving.
