Ingredients

1 package (16 ounces) dried green split peas, rinsed1 large carrot, chopped1 celery rib, chopped1 small onion, chopped1 bay leaf1-1/2 teaspoons salt1/2 teaspoon dried thyme1/2 teaspoon pepper6 cups water

Preparation

In a 3- or 4-qt. slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cook, covered, on low 7-9 hours or until peas are tender. Stir before serving. Discard bay leaf.
